In 1954 the Rambach chapel building society (Kapellenbauverein) was established and in 1956 bought a plot of land on which to build a chapel. There, "In der Lach", the Catholic church of St John was built in 1963. It was built as a reinforced concrete and limestone construction. Two years later a freestanding bell tower, 18 metres high, was added, financed through donations. It houses three bells. St John's church has been classified as a monument of interest since 2004. The architecture is typical of the early 1960s. The choir windows are made of concrete blocks. In the cloisters the colourful cross in the altar area flooded with light from the studio of Ludwig Becker in Frankfurt as well as the square tabernacle are worth seeing. The tabernacle comes from the goldsmith's workshop of St Hildegard's Abbey in Rüdesheim. In 1974 an organ with six registers and 25 pipes took the place of the harmonium that had been used until then.

As it is built on a hillside, the church has a lower floor which is made available to the young people of Rambach and Sonnenberg.
