The Holy Cross Church is the parish church of the Catholic parish in Geisenheim. A church in Geisenheim was first documented in 1146, a late Gothic choir and sacristy were erected in 1510- 1512, and in 1517-1518 initially three vault bays of the three-aisle nave were built. The almost square hall church was expanded by two vault bays by the architect Philipp Hoffmann from 1837 to 1839 and completed with a neo-Gothic façade and rose window in the west and two 46m high towers. The furnishings bear witness to various eras: the Three Kings Altar (around 1480) and an altar triptych (around 1500) from the Late Gothic period; a Baroque pulpit from 1752; and the choir stalls and the font from the 18th century. The neo-Gothic organ was built by the Stumm Brothers in Rhauen-Sulzbach in 1842 and thoroughly restored by the firm of Klais in 1985-1987; the Lady Altar was created by the sculptor Caspar Weis of Frankfurt in 1894, and the high altar erected by Nuremberg sculptor Jakob Rodemundt in 1886.
