After several years of discussing an expansion of the old church, on 3 July 1892 the decision was made to build a new one. Consequently, the old church was torn down in 1893 and the foundation stone for the new church was laid on 26 August. On 23 April, the new bell was fetched and then consecrated on 2 May. It took only two years to get from the first sketch by Herborn architect Ludwig Hoffmann via the employment of local craftsmen to the festive inauguration of the "Ländchesdom" ("Rural Cathedral", the church's local nickname).

This church has room for about 600 people. It is one of the numerous edifices of that time erected in the "pointed-arch style". This is a one-bay church with an apse and three "false" transepts which hold the aisle galleries. High lancet windows open the apse; triplets of windows provide light for the galleries. The massive tower with its four small turrets makes the "Rural Cathedral" visible from afar. The interior has survived the past century almost unchanged in spite of numerous renovations. Here too, Gothic elements were carefully incorporated, for example, in the pulpit whose sandstone pedestal is decorated with foliage and whose sounding board is decorated with a high finial. This church is still considered to be one of the most beautiful in the area.
