Anniversary of the Reformation: central festivity
Themed "Darauf stehe ich" ("That's what I'm into"), Protestants in Wiesbaden will be celebrating a huge summer fête on 25 June 2017 to commemorate the anniversary of the Reformation. Luther posted his ninety-five theses in 1517. Wiesbaden's central festivity will be held at Marktkirche (Market Church) as well as in Schlossplatz square in front of the church, and everyone in Wiesbaden is cordially invited to join in.
The festivity will start with a family church service at Market Church beginning at 2 p.m., followed by a big celebration in Schlossplatz where coffee and cake, wine and local specialities such as Spundekäs cream cheese will be available. Luther waffles will be on offer, theses will be posted, and all those who are in the mood can get up on a podium erected close to Market Church and deliberate those things in life that they are into.
The Frankfurt-based Die Dramatische Bühne theatre company will bring Martin Luther to life for a while, the Kinderzirkus Bierstadt children's circus, and the Protestant family education centre have put together a wide-ranging programme for children and families. Andreas Karthäuser (saxophone) and Wolf Dobberthin (keyboards) will contribute music to match the Reformation. Admission to the central festivity for the anniversary of the Reformation is free.
