Anniversary of the Reformation: That's what I'm into
"Here I stand, I can do no other" – with these words Luther is said to have confronted the Emperor in Worms to add weight to his beliefs. That he endangered his own life by doing so, did not put him off as his faith in God was stronger than his fear. Anyone who will take a stance in Luther's sense can get up on the podium any time between 25 June and 31 October 2017.
Exactly for this purpose, the Protestant Church in Wiesbaden has had a red podium made to be erected in Schlossplatz square and accessible from 25 June 2017. Conscious of a firm foundation underneath their feet and Market Church behind them, passers-by are invited to deliberate questions such as: What is my foundation? What keeps me grounded and gives me confidence? What do I hold dear? What are the challenges I face in my life and in this world?
This is also an opportunity for taking pictures and selfies – against the backdrop of the door of Market Church and facing the statue of William I, Prince of Orange, who was one of the major champions of the Reformation in the Netherlands.
