Worth doing

The district's nightlife is known far beyond Berlin's city limits, and its club and pub scene and numerous events draw crowds from all over the world to come and experience all that Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg has to offer, often well into the night.

The district is known and loved for its long nights, a result of the density of pubs and clubs and the multitude of festivals and events, such as the "Karneval der Kulturen". There is always something happening, be it the "Übereck" Art Festival, the Open Air Gallery, the "Karneval der Kulturen", the street festival "Suppe und Mucke", the InterKreuzHain Festival, MyFest, or the Bergmann Street Festival, the Beer Mile, or the Gay and Lesbian City Festival. The people's cheerfulness and the neighbourhood atmosphere of the place are infectious and draw residents and tourists alike.

There is practically nowhere else in all of Berlin where one can celebrate and feast around the clock and on such a variety of foods as in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg. Whether you prefer Asian, Italian, Old-Style Berlin, Turkish or Persian food, whether you'd like to dine at a restaurant, garden café, trendy pub or beach bar – the district offers an incredible variety of choices. Popular neighbourhood pubs are plenty in both parts of the district.

The arts and culture scene of the district also enjoys a world reputation. Renowned museums offer history, technology, art, politics, and curiosities for the visitor to see and experience. Among the most important are undoubtedly the "East Side Gallery", the longest preserved piece of the wall, and the house on Checkpoint Charlie. Other examples are the foundation "Topographie des Terrors", the Martin Gropius building, the Jewish Museum Berlin, the Wall Museum, the FHXB Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg-Museum, the German Technology Museum, the "Zweiradmuseum" of historic motor bikes, mopeds and bicycles, and the Currywurst Museum.
