International Horse Show at Whitsun 2013

The international show jumping tournament held in the unique atmosphere of the Biebricher Schlosspark is a sporting highlight with a long-standing tradition. The Horse Show at Whitsun has been organised by the Wiesbadener Reit- und Fahrclub (WRFC) since 1929. Since then, it has developed from being a local competition to a firmly established international fixture. It will be held for the 77th time from the 17th May to 20th May, 2013.

The contests in the four disciplines of show jumping, dressage, eventing and vaulting will be carried out with world class ability again in 2013, but up-and-coming horses and young riders will also have the chance to experience the "big stage” for the first time in the historic arena in the heart of the Biebricher Schlosspark.

The great carriage parade through the centre of Wiesbaden heralds the tournament weekend at Whitsun every year. The ‘Wiesbadener Pferdenacht’ (Wiesbaden Night of the Horses) has been the opener for the competition for several years –  in 2013, this will be on the 17th May. Showpieces and stunts, club performances and many more items on the programme will provide exciting insights into the interaction of man/woman and horse. The night of the horses has become a real highlight in Wiesbaden within a short time.

Horse lovers will find gastronomic delicacies and riding equipment in colourful tents set up around the site of the competitions. Young visitors are able to ride ponies, enjoy a children’s circus and other activities. The culmination of every show is the „Grand Prize of Wiesbaden“ on Monday afternoon, for which the best show-jumpers in the world compete.
