Opelbad at Neroberg
Swimming in a cultural monument; where can you do that? In Wiesbaden, on the southern slopes of the Neroberg, between vineyards and the city forest. Situated like a throne above the city centre, this is a jewel of "Neues Bauen" (New Building), an architectural movement that took place at the same time as the "De Stijl” and "New Objectivity” movements. Thanks to the sponsor, Wilhelm von Opel (Coun-cillor of Commerce and industrialist 1871-1948), summers can be spent most comfortably under preservation order and refreshingly in the Opelbad (swimming pool) since 1934. With a view that even includes the Odenwald on the horizon on good days. It never gets boring there, thanks to the illustrious guests, a water slide, table tennis tables, a Löyly sauna, a toddlers’ pool and 65-metre long swimming pool and a beach volleyball field. Thanks to solar technology, the water temperature is a constant 24 degrees Celsius.
