Gustav-Freytag-Straße 27

When Prince Albrecht, the owner of the newly built Solmsschlösschen became seriously and apparently fatally ill after moving in, he moved in 1898 into the building at Gustav-Freytag-Straße 27¯the second villa he had built. In contrast to the monumental Solmsschlösschen, Prince Albrecht had the second villa designed in a relatively simple and conservative style by the architect Wilhelm Köster. The villa is designed in the forms of the Renaissance style of northern Italy, including an asymmetrical arrangement of the corner balcony.

Gustav-Freytag-Straße was called Hainer Weg until 1886 and renamed on the occasion of the 70th birthday of the German poet Gustav Freytag. He lived in the villa at Gustav-Freytag-Straße 18 from 1881 until his death.
