Hotel Oranien

Bierstadter Straße 2

The Wiesbaden architects Schellenberg & Jacobi built the villa in Bierstadter Straße to house the Hotel Oranien (in business until 1937) in 1891/92. From 1928 to 1933, the conductor Carl Schuricht lived in the building which is an example of late Historicism combined with Baroque elements. After the Second World War, the building housed the State Chancellery of the Prime Minister of Hesse:  the Chancellery remained here until 2004. Since early 2007, the building has been home to the Hessian Chamber of Architects and Urban Planners.
