Urban Health Care Facilities

Kastellstraße / Ecke Schwalbacher Straße

The Municipal Health Care Centre was built between 1876 and 1879, between Kastellstraße, upper Schwalbacher Straße and Platter Straße.

The building was designed by the Berlin architects Gropius & Schmieden, who were specialists in hospital construction. In 1976-84 a new hospital built in Dotzheim, Dr.-Horst-Schmidt-Kliniken, replaced the Municipal Health Care Centre. The three simply designed, initial structures made of red brick on the corner of Kastellstraße and Platter Straße were retained intact.
