Vladimir Spivakov & Moscow Virtuosi – 40-Year Anniversary Tour of Europe!
Tour of Europe to mark the 40th anniversary of the formation of the orchestra in 1979.
Vladimir Spivakov studied with Yuri Yankelevich, for instance, and later with David Oistrakh, one of the greatest violinists of the 20th century. While still very young, Spivakov was awarded major prizes at several important international music contests.
During his career as a solo violinist, he started training as a conductor, debuting by conducting a Ravinia Festival Summer Concert by the Chicago Symphony Orchestra in 1979. Numerous other engagements quickly followed.
Moreover, in 1979, he established the MOSCOW VIRTUOSI chamber orchestra, which was soon to emerge as one of the world's leading chamber orchestras. Members of the ensemble include outstanding soloists and section leaders of Moscow's most renowned symphony and chamber orchestras.
Thanks to more than a hundred concerts a year performed in almost every European country as well as the USA and Japan, plus several CD recordings, the Moscow Virtuosi have become an established presence on the international concert scene.
