Educational processes do not begin at school or in daycare centers. The foundations are laid in the family. Daycare centers and elementary school build on this. Particular attention should be paid to the interfaces where the different institutions meet. The aim is to design them in such a way that each individual child is able to make a connection in their individual educational process.

In order to facilitate a smooth transition from daycare to elementary school for school-age children and their parents, the city council decided in 2005 to develop a city-wide, cross-agency and cross-institutional standard for the transition from daycare to elementary school in such a way that children's educational opportunities are significantly improved. As early as 2007, a working committee with representatives from the Office for Social Work and the State Education Authority as well as elementary school and daycare centers presented the first edition of the "Wiesbaden Recommendation" on the transition from daycare to elementary school. This was continuously developed further.

In 2015, the "Recommendation" became a binding "Wiesbaden Agreement" for all institutions involved in the transition from daycare to elementary school.

As many children not only start school, but are also registered for afternoon care or elementary school childcare, "afternoon care" was welcomed as a network partner alongside elementary school and daycare centers in 2020.

As a result, we can now look back on many years of cooperation.
