March!
What I'm really looking forward to this month:
- Here's to spring! Here's to magnolia blossoms, blue stars, crocuses, and daffodils in the spa gardens
- Browse the Rheingau Music Festival (opens in a new tab) program – advance ticket sales are now open!
- From March 15, discover the colorful, monumental paintings in the exhibition Wolfgang Hollegha. Don't think, look! (opens in a new tab) at the Reinhard Ernst Museum, one of Austria's most important painters after 1945.
- Looking forward to the first glass of wine after the winter break at the Wiesbaden winegrowers' stand (opens in a new tab) at the weekly market on March 14.
- Try something new at the newly opened creative café Detailreich (opens in a new tab) and enjoy some delicious cake. And/or attend a workshop (opens in a new tab) such as linocut printing or Japanese bookbinding.
- Tickets for the opening of KrimiMärz (opens in a new tab) with author Sven Stricker on March 3 are unfortunately already sold out, but you can still get a ticket for a video broadcast in the adjoining room at the box office! To get in the mood, I'm watching the film adaptations of his Sörensen novels (opens in a new tab) about the likeable, anxiety-plagued detective played by the fabulous Bjarne Mädel.
- Strolling through the Aukammtal valley and eating waffles in the Orangery (opens in a new tab) – the beautifully restored former palm house. In the 19th century, this is where the palm trees, citrus and other exotic potted plants that adorned the spa gardens in summer were kept during the winter.
- Explore the city on two wheels during a guided bike tour to the Mainspitze (opens in a new tab) organized by Radler Wiesbaden on March 22 (you can even borrow bikes for free, depending on availability).
- Discover the Westend with new eyes on this tour (opens in a new tab) on March 14 and learn more about the "Volksbrausebad," the golden horse on Helenenstrasse, and the Jewish memorial.
Are you in? Have a great March! :-)
