Regional, seasonal, wonderful - the Wiesbaden markets
If you want to shop seasonally and regionally, Wiesbaden's weekly markets are the place to go.
Wednesdays & Saturdays: Dern'sches Gelände
On Wednesdays and Saturdays, you can stroll past around 80 stalls at the large weekly market on the Dern'schen Gelände from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. From vegetables to meat and fish, to delicacies, cheese, and flowers, there’s everything your heart desires. At the food market, you can refuel with bratwurst, kibbeling, waffles, and more.
You can find a fine glass of wine at the Wiesbaden winemakers’ stand (opens in a new tab), where different winemakers serve wine every week from March through November.
Prick up your ears: On Saturdays from 12:00 to 12:30 p.m., the carillon—the market church’s glockenspiel—is played by hand!
When: Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: Dern'sches Gelände
Fridays: Biebrich
The weekly market in Biebrich is also very nice. You can shop at local producers on Marienplatz on Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Tip: A visit to the market can be combined with a walk through the spa gardens or along the banks of the Rhine – preferably with an ice cream from Eiscafé Stefano Covre in your hand. The wine tasting stand (opens in a new tab) on the banks of the Rhine is open from January to October from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.
When: Fridays from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Where: Marienplatz in Biebrich
Fridays: Bierstadt
The charming weekly market on the church square in front of the Protestant church in Bierstadt is also worth a visit. Every Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., local producers are on site to supply you with fruit and vegetables, meat, fish, and delicacies.
Tip: Be sure to stop by the beautiful and almost iconic Broterben (opens in a new tab) bakery at Venatorstraße 9!
When: Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Where: Church square in front of the Protestant church on Venatorstraße
