Radio play trip with the THermine for children
If you want to see and hear a lot of the city in a short time, a tour on the Thermine is a great idea. There is a special radio play ride for children:
Together with her grandfather, curious Maxi travels with THermine through her home town of Wiesbaden. She wants to hear as many exciting stories as possible from her grandfather. But Maxi also has her own magical and mysterious story to tell, which not only amazes her grandpa, but also all THermine guests young and old ...
A mix of educational city tour and entertaining radio play!
The interactive adventure tour through Wiesbaden is a search for treasures and clues that you can embark on with your own smartphone - independently, at any time, free of charge and without having to download an app. The "Wiesbaden in your ear" flyer lists 14 prominent locations in the city that have special stories to tell. Simply scan the QR codes on site and listen to the short audios and videos.
These include the Mauergasse with its "150 meters of good mood factor", the Nerobergbahn, which is "beautiful, quirky and unique", the Café Maldaner and its "coffee house charm for over 160 years", the Wiesbaden Casino and its "Faites vos jeux" and, of course, the Wiesbaden parakeets, which are "as green as they are loud".
By the way: the suggestions for the stations come from Wiesbaden residents. Over 100 places were suggested, which shows that they listen pretty well when it comes to their city!
Hands-on museums
The permanent exhibition "Aesthetics of Nature" at the Museum Wiesbaden builds a bridge between art and nature with its five themed rooms of form, color, movement, time and change and is particularly interesting for children with its exhibits.
In the museum workshop, which is offered every Saturday from 10.15 am to 1 pm, children can create their own works of art after an exciting discovery tour through the museum.
Children have free admission.

What's your favorite color - bubblegum pink or grasshopper green? Have you ever painted a picture with your foot? And what exactly is a museum? At the weekend, children can go on a journey of discovery together at the Reinhard Ernst Museum. During the "Color in motion!" family time, parents can also join in.
There is also a special media guide for children, which they can use to discover the museum on their own.
All children and young people up to the age of 18 can enter the museum free of charge at any time.

In the mornings, the museum is open exclusively for school classes and educational institutions - from the afternoon onwards, it is open to the general public. The foyer of the museum is freely accessible without a ticket.
An exciting museum rally is offered at sam, Stadtmuseum am Markt, for children between the ages of eight and twelve. With a suitcase, map and rally cards, they can explore the museum independently and playfully on a journey of discovery.
Freudenberg Castle just outside Wiesbaden is no ordinary museum - it is a field of experience for the senses. In the middle of an extensive park, the lovingly restored castle invites you to discover, marvel and try things out together.
Whether it's the barefoot path, the dark corridor or the sound installations - here you can playfully sharpen your perception and awaken your curiosity.

Rowing and pedal boats can be hired on the Kurparkweiher pond, on which you can sail across the water with a wonderful view of the Kurhaus.

The Kurpark Rallye is an exciting way to explore the park. Twelve questions challenge the children's detective skills, and at the end a little surprise awaits in the Kurhaus. Ideal for a family outing!
Once at the top, the climbing forest awaits. Children from the age of four can let off steam on a special course, while older children and adults can take on more demanding challenges.
The animal and plant park Fasanerie Wiesbaden just outside the city is a must for families! The ESWE Verkehr bus line 33 takes you directly there - without stress and without having to search for a parking space. At the Fasanerie, you can observe over 130 animals, including brown bears, wolves and lynxes, up close on 23 hectares.
Of course, the feedings with the animal keepers, which are offered daily (Monday and Tuesday at 2 pm, Wednesday and Sunday at 3 pm, Thursday and Friday at 11 am), are particularly exciting.
There are also exciting hands-on activities such as workshops, expeditions or "pheasant bathing", which involves relaxation exercises in nature.

Even the boat trip to Rettbergsaue on the "Tamara" from the banks of the Rhine at Biebrich or Schierstein harbor is fun!
The Rettbergsaue is a real little island paradise - perfect for families who want to spend a day in nature. Just a few minutes by small passenger ferry from Biebrich or Schierstein, a small oasis with white sandy beaches, wide meadows, shady trees and plenty of space to play, picnic and relax awaits you.
Incidentally, 90 percent of the island is a nature reserve due to its rich bird and plant life.
Quellgeflüster tip: There is a lovely children's book about the giant Ekko – the giant who, according to a Wiesbaden legend, created the hot springs: Wiesbaden, a journey of discovery with the giant Ekko (opens in a new tab). On this journey of discovery, he is accompanied by Marie and Bruno, who find a stack of old books about Wiesbaden while rummaging around in the attic in an old suitcase.
