Guest on June 19, 8 p.m.: Ronald Urbanczyk, director

In this poetic road movie documentary, Ronald Urbanczyk and Tomek Kucharski embark on a colorful and profound journey across Poland—in search of the country’s last true hippies. What does it still mean today to be a “hippie”? Which values and ways of life have endured, and how can the ideals of freedom, community, and a connection to nature be preserved in an increasingly consumer-oriented world?

The two filmmakers encounter charismatic personalities, alternative communities, and spiritual dropouts who have consciously chosen to live outside the mainstream. In doing so, they delve into the history of the hippie movement in Poland—from its beginnings in the 1960s to its relevance today.

With striking imagery, shot in locations including the picturesque Bieszczady Mountains, and accompanied by the rhythm of drums, a cinematic mosaic of encounters, reflections, and visions emerges. The film poses the central question: How can we—inspired by the ideas of that time—create a more sustainable, more compassionate, and more mindful world today?
