Do you want to deal with a serious topic in a child-friendly way in the classroom? Then the movie "Romy's Salon" is particularly suitable for dealing with the topic of Alzheimer's. Some children may know from their own family that their grandparents have dementia and suddenly seem to behave strangely and frighten the children. How should they behave towards grandparents who no longer seem to be themselves? The film does not show any simple solutions, but deals with the topic in all its complexity, always at eye level with the young protagonist, from whose point of view the film is told. It is encouraging and shows that the situation can be overcome together despite all the difficulties.

Romy's grandma Stine is suddenly behaving strangely. Why is she putting the purse in the fridge? And what kind of language is she speaking? Romy doesn't actually get on particularly well with her grandma, but she has to wait for her mother at her house after school. Stine herself doesn't really have any time, she's busy in her hairdressing salon. But as Stine's illness becomes more and more apparent, Romy knows that she has to take responsibility for her grandma and the two of them stick together. But then Stine's condition worsens and ten-year-old Romy can no longer look after her alone and needs help from adults.
