"When there are no more witnesses"
As part of the project "When there are no more witnesses" - run by the Medienzentrum Wiesbaden e.V. and the Evangelical Deanery of Wiesbaden - eight young people have developed and conducted several interviews in which they ask questions about films and books that connect the person with the Shoah.
In the foreseeable future, there will be no more witnesses to the Holocaust. This makes the work of schools, archives, museums and memorials all the more important to ensure that the memory does not die out and that responsible action is possible in the future. The importance of films and literature will also grow.
Eight pupils have therefore asked people which book or film about the Holocaust has particularly moved them. They interviewed Wiesbaden's Lord Mayor Gert-Uwe Mende, the writer Shida Bazyar, the author Alexander Pfeiffer and the students Anouk Dechow and Emma Krafft Ruiz.
The videos are permanently available on the YouTube channel of the Wiesbaden Media Center and on the homepage of the Protestant Deanery. They will also be shown at school cinema events at the Caligari FilmBühne throughout the year. You can already make a note of January 27, 2022, when the films will be shown again at the screening of the film "There were no birds in Auschwitz". Due to the pandemic, the film screening could only take place online for school classes this year.
