The Media Center offers Wiesbaden schools personal pedagogical support in the use of iPads and the associated media technology.
Since the fall of 2022, schools sponsored by the city of Wiesbaden have had access to a personal educational support service. An employee of the media center not only offers traditional teacher workshops on iPad use and the iPad's "on-board resources", but also has the opportunity to go into the classroom with teachers. The offer relates not only to iPads themselves, but also to media technology for which the iPad serves as a control instrument, such as devices from the field of maker education.
Further training for teachers
The training courses listed below are offered at regular intervals at the media center, but we are also happy to come to your school. If there are 5 or more participating teachers, we can plan an individual date for a training topic or several in one block and implement it at your location. If a desired topic is not included in the list, please contact us.
iPad Basics - Introductory Workshop
In this workshop, iPad newcomers can learn how to set up and use the device and ask any questions they may have about its operation. Tips and tricks to make work easier will be demonstrated and basic things such as file management, screen sharing, the control center/quick access and useful settings for use in the classroom will be covered.
The workshop can take place on teachers' own devices, alternatively we can also bring iPads. The offer can take place in presence and online. We recommend the face-to-face format, as this makes it easier to provide help and advice during the practice phase.
Pages - the powerful Word alternative on the iPad

In this workshop, you will get to know the iMovie app, which is one of the standard tools on an iPad. You will learn how to create a beautiful movie product in no time at all using animated picture stories. You can use this method directly with pupils, starting from Year 3/4. You will also learn about the app's advanced functions such as storyboard templates and how to create a movie freely.
The workshop can take place on teachers' own devices, alternatively we can also bring iPads. We strongly recommend the face-to-face format due to the important practice phase followed by a mutual presentation of the results.
Classroom - Controlling iPads in the classroom
The free Classroom app, which comes from Apple itself, is the only app that allows teachers to monitor and remotely control the iPads of a learning group. Focus your students' attention by only allowing certain apps or temporarily blocking the iPad screen. Digital exam situations can also be created in this way. Operation is fairly simple, as you would expect from iPads. In this short workshop, you will get to know the app from the perspective of both pupils and teachers and can then use it yourself if required.
The workshop can take place on teachers' own devices, alternatively we can also bring iPads. The presence form is necessary as the app can only control iPads that are in the same network as the teacher iPad.
3D printing
The contents of the workshop include getting to know a child-friendly 3D modeling program called TinkerSchool, an introduction to the basic settings of the 3D printer and the printing software to start printing.
We bring a 3D printer as well as consumables and illustrative material to your school and conduct the workshop there. Alternatively, workshops can also be held at the media center.
