The Medienzentrum Wiesbaden e.V. is an association founded in 1998. It emerged from the Stadtbildstelle, which was founded in 1936, and has taken over its tasks alongside other additional activities. The association is financed almost exclusively by grants and commissions from the state capital of Wiesbaden. Its statutes, which you can view below, are structured in such a way that the state capital of Wiesbaden is represented at all times in the general meeting and on the association's board.

Like any registered association, the media center is represented by a board of directors, which is responsible for its work. The statutes stipulate that the board must always include the respective head of the cultural department, the head of the cultural office, and the head of the school office. The association is chaired by the head of the department. This guarantees the networking with politics and administration and the areas of education and culture that is so important for its operation. 

According to Section 162 of the Hessian Schools Act, media centers in Hesse are managed by a teacher provided for this purpose by the state of Hesse. In this way, the Schools Act aims to ensure the important link between local authority specialists and pedagogical expertise. Mr. Michael Elster has managed the media center since 2008 in shared responsibility, since 2012 in sole responsibility. He is a teacher of politics & economics, history and geography. In order to ensure continuous management, he is therefore supported by his deputy Ms. Weyer and his deputy Mr. Rott. Ms. Weyer is a media educator and heads the corresponding department of the media center, Mr. Rott is an IT specialist and heads the school IT department of the media center.
