This year, various wineries from the area around the Ukrainian twin town of Kamjanez-Podilskyj are presenting fine sparkling wines and wines. In the area around Kamjanez-Podilskyj, ambitious young winemakers are currently rediscovering local wine production. However, there are already two established wine-growing areas in Ukraine: the region around Odessa in the south and the Carpathian Mountains in the west.
- The wine-growing settlement of Shabo was founded in 1822 by Swiss emigrants and is now one of the largest quality wine producers in Ukraine with over 500 awards. The Shabo Brut (12.5 percent, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris) is fruity and summery fresh - a "Special Edition".
- A fresh white wine (13%) made from the Suholimanske grape variety, a cross between Chardonnay and Plavai, and a fruity rosé Cabernet Sauvignon (13%) made from hand-picked grapes come from the Frumushika-Nova winery in Europe's largest steppe in Bessarabia, close to the Moldovan border.
- The Odessa Black VIP dry 2019 from the Villa Tinta winery is deep red and full-bodied (13 percent). The winery is located on the banks of the Danube and in the valley of Lake Yalpuh.
- The award-winning Beykush winery on a peninsula in the Black Sea produces a dry, fruity Chardonnay (13.5 percent).
- Château Chizay is located in Transcarpathia on the borders with Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia. The Chizay Carpathian Sekt Rosé (11.5 percent Blaufränkisch) was named the best rosé in Ukraine.
Kamajanez-Podilskyj is one of the oldest and most beautiful cities in Ukraine and Wiesbaden's youngest twin city. Situated in the west of Ukraine, visitors are immediately struck by the imposing fortress on a rock, fortified by a loop of the Smotrych river.
