About us

You have to start with your ancestors at some point. Among the many traditional estates in the Rheingau run by the umpteenth generation, there are sometimes winegrowers who work their way up to pole position from a standing start. But even as a child, Hans Bauch learned how to 'plow' through the vineyards with a horse. Since 1978, the master winemaker has been able to continually expand the vineyard area and today produces perfectly matured Rieslings, complex reds and Pinot Noirs in barriques from famous names such as Erbacher Honigberg, Oestricher Lenchen and Heiligenberg. The Bausch winery deliberately concentrates on dry to noble sweet wines that appeal to a wide range of consumers. Almost every winemaker today is looking - often frantically - for fruitiness in their wines. Hans Bausch finds this with ease. His son Maximilian and daughter Katharina have both chosen the path of a winemaker and are already fully integrated into the winery.
