The origins of the Rußler family lie in Oestrich, from where the founder of the estate, Michael Rußler, moved to Rauenthal in 1725 and established a mixed operation. In 1966, with the handover from father Benedikt to the current owner Ernst Rußler, the decision was made to run a pure wine and sparkling wine estate.

This decision was absolutely right: multiple awards, increasing customer acceptance and, last but not least, the Gutsschänke, which has been in operation since 1980, created the current level of recognition of the Rußler winery in the Rheingau wine landscape. The new business premises in Kaltenborn were completed in April 2012. With the reopening of the adjoining estate tavern, the business was also handed over to the new owners, Uwe and Michaela Rußler.
