Winery Wurm

Middle Rhine Valley World Heritage Site. Right in the middle: The picturesque wine town of Lorch. Part of a breathtaking cultural landscape. Characterized by vines, slate soils and steep slopes. World-renowned wines are produced here.

Robert Wurm has followed this call. In 2014, he left his position as head of the Group to fulfill his dream of owning his own Rheingau winery. During his extensive travels, Rheingau Riesling always meant a piece of home to the engineer. Even in Korea, his second home. He has been practicing Kendō, the modern version of classic sword fighting, since his youth. During his studies, he was given the unique opportunity to live and train for a year with a true Kendō master in Seoul. A time that would shape him forever...

Wurm chose the life of a winegrower because it suited his nature so well. A life far removed from the politicized illusory world of a large corporation. Building something with his own hands. In this context, humility, modesty and respect are crucial virtues for him - values that he learned from his Kendō master in Seoul. On just 35 square meters of living space, with three adults. There were never any arguments because everyone respected each other. An attitude that is typical of Korea. A country whose people embrace life, are sociable and fun-loving. It is traits like these that Robert Wurm appreciates so much. And which he incorporates into his very own philosophy of winemaking.

His Korean-style brand demonstrates his very close connection to Seoul. A deliberate bridge between the two worlds. All the wines in the collection reflect their Rheingau origins. The slate soils of Lorch's steep slopes are particularly characteristic of his delicate, playful wines. His Rieslings and Pinot Noirs are long, but never broad. As precise as a cleanly executed blow with the shinai (sword). And elegant like a lovingly decorated bōgu (armor).
