Our Measures to Improve Resource Efficiency
Mobility
Mobility is one of the main factors contributing to high CO2 emissions at events. We support event planners in encouraging guests and staff to use public transportation or bicycles for their travel to and from Wiesbaden.
The RMCC’s central location allows for easy accesson foot to conference hotels, shopping and dining venues, as well as the extensive bus, regional, and long-distance rail networks.
The RMCC is about a five-minute walk from Wiesbaden Central Station. This ensures resource-efficient travel to and from the venue for organizers, visitors, and staff.

With the new Wies-e (opens in a new tab) e-scooter sharing service, you can also reach your destination quickly and easily.

The RMCC’s energy concept is based on three key components:
The RMCC has a wastewater heat pump. The heat recovered in this way is fed into the heating circuit and used, for example, to power the underfloor heating system
Peak loads are met with district heating from the biomass cogeneration plant
The 1,200 m² photovoltaic system with a capacity of 200 kilowatt-peak (kWp) on the roof of the North Hall generates the base load electricity for the RMCC. In the summer of 2026, the system was expanded by an additional 1,170 m² with 524 modules on the South Hall. The new system has a capacity of 250 kWp. With an annual electricity generation of approximately 225,000 to 275,000 kWh, the new system can theoretically cover about 8.3% of the RMCC’s total electricity demand. Together with the existing system (6.6% of electricity demand), the RMCC’s self-sufficiency rate thus rises to approximately 15 percent.
Excess energy not consumed by the RMCC is fed into the general power grid.
Lighting
Use of energy-saving LED technology: The building is equipped exclusively with LED lights, which have low energy and maintenance requirements and a long service life

Optimal use of daylight characterizes the building and thus a lower power requirement for lighting:
Visitors to the RMCC are welcomed in light-flooded foyers
90% of the rooms have floor-to-ceiling windows for plenty of daylight
The fully glazed façades allow plenty of daylight into the foyer and halls during the day, making the course of the day clearly noticeable inside
Energy-optimized window and façade surfaces have been installed, which can be easily shaded for events
Natural building materials
The use of natural building materials such as natural stone and wood is taken into account in accordance with the DGNB certification requirements. As a renewable and indigenous raw material, wood is CO2-neutral and creates a healthy indoor climate, optimum humidity and thus ensures a high feel-good factor - aspects that are a high priority for our guests. Wood is also stable, versatile and has excellent thermal insulation properties.
Catering
Our catering partner at the RMCC, “GAUL CATERING,” has adopted a responsible catering concept called “Greenline,” which incorporates seasonal products, regional partners, and vegetarian dishes that are freshly prepared right in front of guests at front-cooking stations.
Gaul has implemented sustainability guidelines that set requirements for its own company as well as for suppliers and partners. These include guidelines on food procurement, supplier selection, reducing waste and single-use products, water consumption, waste separation, and many other sustainability-related topics.
The RMCC has a service water system with an external cistern that holds 145 m³ of water. Rainwater is collected in the cistern; it is captured on the roof of the south wing and flows through a filter into the cistern via a drain. The rainwater is used to flush toilets, water the lawn areas in front of the building, and maintain the water level in the three water basins in front of the building.
The RMCC is equipped with water-saving toilets and automatic faucets at the sinks.
The plumbing systems are resource-efficient thanks to the installation of hand-drying dispensers in all restroom areas of the RMCC as well as in the office spaces, which helps reduce paper towel waste.
Cleaning and waste
We primarily use organic cleaning products
We use recycled paper or paper from certified sources
Whether during setup, takedown, or during the event itself, waste prevention and recycling apply to all service providers, partners, employees, and visitors to the venue. Therefore, our waste management plan takes a wide range of areas into account and relies on close communication with all parties involved
Our caterer is required to avoid single-use portion packaging
Accessibility
Parking spaces for people with disabilities (parking space size: 350 cm x 550 cm) in the underground garage, approx. 10 m from the entrance
The entrance and all rooms and facilities that can be used and raised for the guest are steplessly accessible or accessible via an elevator
The elevator cabins are at least 110 cm x 200 cm in size
Passages and doors are at least 90 cm wide
The mobile information counter is 89 cm high at its lowest point
Wiesbaden main station is only a 5-minute walk away
