Expansion of Photovoltaic Capacity Increases the Share of Self-Generated Electricity
The RMCC is expanding its photovoltaic system. With the new system installed on the South Hall, the congress center’s calculated self-sufficiency rate will rise to about 15 percent. The expansion is part of the ongoing development of the RMCC’s energy supply.
Expansion of On-Site Power Generation at the RMCC
The new photovoltaic system comprises 524 modules covering an area of approximately 1,170 square meters and has a capacity of approximately 250 kilowatts-peak. The expected annual electricity generation ranges between 225,000 and 275,000 kilowatt-hours. Together with the existing system on the North Hall, this increases the RheinMain CongressCenter’s calculated self-sufficiency rate to approximately 15 percent.
The electricity generated is used directly to power the congress center’s ongoing operations. Due to the existing base load, there is no need for additional electricity storage. The system is wholly owned by TriWiCon.
Part of sustainability management
The expansion of the photovoltaic system is part of the sustainability management efforts of Wiesbaden Congress & Marketing GmbH (WICM) and TriWiCon. The goal is the continuous improvement of the technical infrastructure and the resource-efficient operation of the event venues.
Investments in building technology and energy efficiency are also factored into sustainability assessments. For example, the regular Green Globe certification process takes into account not only existing measures but also their further development. The RheinMain CongressCenter and the Kurhaus Wiesbaden were recently recertified according to the international Green Globe standard.

Installation work is underway
Installation of the new photovoltaic system will begin at the end of July 2026 and is expected to take three to four weeks. During the construction period, the RheinMain CongressCenter will remain fully available for events. Access to the parking garage will be guaranteed at all times.
