German Medical Congress returns to Wiesbaden in 2027

The 131st German Medical Conference will take place from 4 to 7 May 2027 at the RheinMain CongressCenter (RMCC) in Wiesbaden. This will mark the return of a key health policy event for the medical profession to the venue where the first German Medical Congress was held in 1873.

Mayor and Head of Economic Affairs Christiane Hinninger explains: "Wiesbaden is becoming the 'Capital of the Healthcare Industry' as part of the German Doctors' Conference. Far-reaching decisions on healthcare will be made during these days. We are expecting around 1000 participants from all over Germany to spend four days in our city. This also strengthens the local economy and stimulates the hotel and catering industry in particular."

The German Medical Congress, which draws up nationwide regulations on professional law and positions on healthcare policy, is the annual general meeting of the German Medical Association, to which delegates from the 17 German medical associations are sent. "I am delighted to be able to invite you to Wiesbaden in 2027," said Edgar Pinkowski, President of the Hesse Medical Association, in Leipzig, where the decision for Wiesbaden was made during this year's Medical Assembly. Wiesbaden is a "place steeped in history": the foundation stone for organized medical self-administration was laid there on 27 September 1873. In addition to the historic start in 1873, the congress also took place in Wiesbaden in 1898, 1961 and 1968. "With the RMCC, the city now offers a modern and efficient infrastructure for congresses of this size - and combines tradition with the future," said Pinkowski.

Martin Michel, Managing Director of Wiesbaden Congress & Marketing GmbH, is also delighted with the decision and the new contract for the RMCC: "The fact that the Executive Board of the German Medical Association has placed its trust in Wiesbaden is a strong signal for the conference location and also for the RMCC. The German Medical Congress is another event in a whole series of important medical congresses in Wiesbaden."
