"Art in architecture" project enters final phase

Preparatory work for the art installation by sculptor Emilia Neumann is starting immediately on the lawn area in front of the RheinMain CongressCenter (RMCC), which is intended for the "Kunst am Bau" project. The area has been fenced off accordingly; the construction fence secures the construction work and the excavation pit.

Preparations for the installation of the sculptures are underway.

Over the next few weeks, various civil engineering works will be carried out on the lawn area to install the artwork. This primarily includes the foundation work for the substructure of the sculptures. A crane is then expected to lift the three sculptures onto the prepared substructure for permanent installation at the end of August. As part of the work, it will be necessary to temporarily close the sidewalk during daylight hours. On Monday and Tuesday, July 31 and August 1, 2023, the sidewalk will be closed during the day. Afterwards, there may be irregular restrictions on the sidewalk. The cycle path will not be affected. The construction fence will remain in place until the inauguration of the art installation, which is planned for the end of August.

The installation of the sculptures is the final phase of the "Kunst am Bau" project. At the beginning of December 2022, a week-long public exhibition at the RheinMain CongressCenter showcased all the artworks submitted to the "Art on the RheinMain CongressCenter Building" open competition organized by the RMCC's client, TriWiCon.

Emilia Neumann, a sculptor who lives and works in Frankfurt, won the competition in 2022. Her design of three amorphous sculptures, which deal with the theme of water, which is so important for Wiesbaden, through the interpenetration of various everyday objects, prevailed over seven other competition entries.
