Shooting star market 2026

From November 24 through December 23, festively decorated booths, a varied stage program, and many other highlights invite you to enjoy the magic of the Advent season.

Shooting star market 2018

From November 24 through the end of December, Wiesbaden’s Christmas City invites visitors to enjoy the holiday season in the city center amid a festive atmosphere. At the heart of the festivities is the Sternschnuppenmarkt on Schlossplatz and in front of the Marktkirche. Around 100 stalls, featuring gift ideas, arts and crafts, and winter delicacies, invite visitors to stroll, savor, and discover. Music, a varied stage program, contemplative devotions, and a wide range of activities for children all contribute to a magical experience.

A true highlight in every sense of the word is the 25-meter-tall Christmas tree on Schlossplatz, which will be erected on November 10 and at the foot of which the traditional nativity scene can also be found.

Enchanting Walking Acts

The walking acts that make their way through the city center during the Christmas season—from fairies and St. Nicholas to the musical “Heavenly Cloud”—create magical encounters.

Grand Opening

The Sternschnuppenmarkt will be officially opened by Mayor Gert-Uwe Mende and Director of Economic Affairs Daniela Georgi on Tuesday, November 24, at 6 p.m. on Schlossplatz.

Convenient & Affordable Travel Options

To make even the journey itself a festive treat, Wiesbaden offers practical and affordable options. On Advent Saturdays, buses and trains within the Wiesbaden city limits run free of charge—ideal for exploring the Christmas-themed city at a leisurely pace. Those traveling by car can take advantage of a parking offer in the city’s parking garages on Advent weekends from Friday through Sunday: The maximum charge for the day is five euros. For shorter parking durations, the regular rate applies.

Convenient transportation is also provided between the Christmas highlights: The Sternschnuppen Shuttle takes visitors back and forth for free between the Sternschnuppenmarkt, the Kindersternschnuppenmarkt, WinterStubb, and Wiesbaden on Ice. It runs every 30 minutes from 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Fridays through Sundays, departing from the Sternschnuppenmarkt at the Dern’schen Gelände, at the corner of Mauergasse.
