Rheingau Music Festival
June to August/September 2020
The Rheingau Music Festival is one of Europe's largest music festivals, featuring more than 170 performances held in venues throughout the entire region between Frankfurt, Wiesbaden, and the Middle Rhine Valley every year. Unique cultural monuments such as Kloster Eberbach abbey, Schloss Johannisberg castle, Schloss Vollrads castle, and the Wiesbaden Kurhaus as well as cosy wineries double as stages for concerts given by international star musicians in genres including classical music, jazz, cabaret, and world music.
The motto of the 33rd Rheingau Music Festival is "Freedom". It also focuses on the work of Ludwig van Beethoven, whose 250th birthday is celebrated with a comprehensive portrait. Artist in Residence Lisa Batiashvili, Focus artist Julia Lezhneva, Composer & Artist in Residence Gabriela Montero and Focus Jazz artist Wolfgang Haffner will accompany the festival throughout the 2020 season with unique concert projects.
