Product in May: Mouth and nose protection masks
"Necessity is the mother of invention": Lara Melanie Renner from Wiesbaden thought the same. With her fashion label Lara Loca Couture, the master tailor for men and women is actually known for evening wear, costumes in Chanel style, business fashion and wedding dresses.
But due to the necessary temporary closure of her shop due to the Corona crisis, she had to think of something else. It is true that Renner can still complete existing orders in her studio and also make new designs for regular customers whose measurements are already stored with her. However, the demand for wedding dresses, for example, has completely disappeared. "Many weddings that were planned for this year have already been postponed to next year," she says.
In order to contribute to the general containment of the spread of the coronavirus, she went to numerous pharmacies and shops in search of breathing masks. "But none were available! How do you say in such an extraordinary situation: Necessity is the mother of invention", the master craftswoman remembers. So Lara Melanie Renner decided to sew face coverings out of fabric. Although these are not the medical standard, they would still contribute to the improved general protection of the environment.
The master craftswoman donates part of the proceeds to the Dwarf Nose Foundation.
