A perfect weekend

Sunday is Museum Day!

After breakfast, head to a museum—for example, the Museum Wiesbaden (opens in a new tab), which, as Hesse’s state museum, features not only an extensive art collection but also an extraordinary natural history collection. This collection is entirely dedicated to the theme “The Aesthetics of Nature” and showcases the creative energy and aesthetic spirit of nature! Another highlight is the extensive Art Nouveau collection, featuring 500 paintings and objects that take you on a journey through time. In the interview (opens in a new tab), you can read about what you absolutely shouldn’t miss. The Reinhard Ernst Museum (opens in a new tab) (mre), located

right next to the museum, is also worth a visit—if you want to see both, be sure to use the partnership ticket (opens in a new tab). The museum opened in 2024. The extraordinary museum building by star architect Fumihiko Maki, for which dedicated tours are offered, houses abstract art from the collection of founder Reinhard Ernst. The “Alles Kunst” tour (opens in a new tab) provides an overview of the collection and current special exhibitions.

A few meters further on is the Literaturhaus Villa Clementine (opens in a new tab), where scenes for the film “The Buddenbrooks” were filmed and which hosts wonderful readings. On select Saturdays and Sundays, (opens in a new tab) the bel étage is open to you from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Here you can admire the beautiful Wilhelminian-style villa, browse the book exchange, spend some time reading, and treat yourself to coffee and cake.

All that art makes you hungry! At the iconic pizzeria Tutti Frutti (opens in a new tab)—under the trees in summer—you can enjoy what might be Wiesbaden’s best pizza while looking out at the neighboring villas.
