Caligari barrier-free
As a municipal cinema, the Caligari strives to be a cinema for everyone. This also includes providing a barrier-free cinema experience for people with disabilities.

As part of this, a fixed hearing system was installed in 2014 with funding from the German Federal Film Board (FFA). The system makes it possible for visually impaired people to listen to the audio version of the film via headphones that can be borrowed free of charge. People with impaired hearing or volume sensitivity can also adjust the volume individually via the headphones. Sound-amplifying hearing loops are also available for people with hearing aids to borrow from the box office. The Caligari program also includes films with subtitles. It should be noted that unfortunately not all films are produced in accessible versions.
To provide even more choice in the cinema program, the Caligari also refers to the free Greta app in the program booklet. If the desired version of the film is available in the app, it can be experienced during the screening on your own smartphone with audio description, subtitles or hearing amplification. The app can also be used in any other movie theater. Further information and instructions for the Greta app can be found at the link below.
The Caligari is also structurally barrier-free: the box office, foyer, bar, cinema auditorium and a toilet for people with disabilities are at ground level and can be reached without steps.
