After a break due to Corona, the "Convention Wiesbaden Stories" are back with a new episode. Episode 4 shows a best practice trade fair example in times of Corona.
The ARTe art fair, the first public fair under Corona conditions, has been taking place at the RMCC since mid-March 2020.
How can an event or trade fair format with a lot of public traffic be implemented in these times? Messe Sindelfingen, as the organizer of the ARTe art fair, has sent a courageous and hopeful signal to the market and shown that, despite coronavirus restrictions and with good and well thought-out concepts, it is possible to organize fairs that reach a similar number of visitors as "before". In both years - 2019 and 2020 - it attracted almost 4,000 art enthusiasts to the RMCC.
100 exhibitors presented their contemporary, "young and cheeky" art to up to 250 people at the same time (maximum number of people in Hesse, as of October 2020). On an area of 5000 square meters, the North Hall offered sufficient space to arrange and coordinate exhibition stands and walkways in accordance with current regulations, so that all visitors in the hall at the same time could move through the exhibition with sufficient distance.
How were the hygiene regulations implemented? See for yourself!

The focus of the third edition of the Wiesbaden Stories convention in February 2020 is a gala event of superlatives - the Ball des Sports.
The RMCC is pushing its limits in terms of logistics, planning, flexibility, coordination and coordination between all trades - and once again shows what is feasible and can be implemented:
After several days of construction work, the RMCC is transformed into a venue for around 2,000 guests for the third time. 47 km of laid cables, 3,500 m of installed trusses, 500 suspended motors, 1,500 square meters of constructed platform area, 8,700 square meters of laid carpeting, 180 cbm of poured riding surface and 250 square meters of constructed projection surface make the North Hall shine as a gigantic ball arena for 1,800 guests. Performances by the world's best equestrian elite, a first-class ball menu by star chef Nelson Müller and the world of experience in the South Hall, where Convention Wiesbaden also presented itself with a wellness oasis and billiard trick shot world champion Ralph Eckert, round off the ball program alongside the midnight show by Herbert Grönemeyer.
- An absolute top event at the highest level, confirming the RMCC's versatility and flexibility.

Blog post about episode 1
Since April 2018, the RheinMain CongressCenter (opens in a new tab) has been hosting congresses, trade fairs, conferences—in short, events of all types and sizes. The RMCC has established itself as the ideal venue for large-scale events and stands out thanks to its size, flexibility, and unique features. Episode 1 of the video magazine takes you to an event at the RMCC, namely this year's congress of the German Society for Internal Medicine (DGIM).
What does an event such as a trade fair or congress at the RMCC in Wiesbaden look like?
The RMCC has had an eventful year, hosting numerous events (opens in a new tab) of various sizes. Thanks to its enormous number of visitors and its program, the Congress of the German Society for Internal Medicine (DGIM) is a best practice example of the capacities and possibilities that the RMCC premises (opens in a new tab) offer customers from all industries and of all sizes.
The spacious halls of the RMCC cover an immense 17,700 m². At a major event such as the Congress of Internal Medicine, every single square meter of the huge area is used – without any problems. All of the approximately 8,500 participants at the DGIM congress were able to be accommodated in the RMCC premises. In addition to an accompanying program of events at the Kurhaus Wiesbaden, (opens in a new tab) the RMCC provided space for 375 sessions and 1,215 presentations in 45 different rooms during the major event. This demonstrates the enormous flexibility of the RMCC, which can also host a major event of this magnitude. The Congress of Internal Medicine is not the only example of the successful staging of such a major event.
Guaranteed success thanks to flexibility and modern functionality
The RheinMain CongressCenter has been in operation for over a year now – a year that was anything but uneventful for the RMCC. Managing Director Oliver Heiliger gives a positive assessment: "It was a very busy year: we had everything from large to small events, and we are very satisfied." Oliver Heiliger believes that the center has proven that the decision to build it at this location in Wiesbaden was the right one and that it has also fulfilled its purpose and objectives in terms of architecture and design.
A successful balance sheet for the RheinMain CongressCenter. So what are the guarantees of success for holding an event at the RMCC that convince even large customers such as the DGIM of this venue?
Size and functionality for events of all kinds
The RMCC is particularly notable for its immense size of approximately 17,700 m², which can be used in its entirety for a trade fair (opens in a new tab), congress (opens in a new tab), or other event. The South Hall, which offers space for up to 3,200 people on over 3,000 m², combines an exhibition area with a space that can accommodate a plenary session of 700 people.
The exact layout of the rooms and halls at the RMCC does not have to be adhered to—it is also possible to adapt the spatial layout at the RMCC. For example, during the Internal Medicine Congress, the 2,400 m² light-flooded Terrace Hall (opens in a new tab) was used by the DGIM by dividing it into several smaller segments, which made it possible to run several programs simultaneously. Partition walls installed specifically for this purpose ensure that, with such a room layout that can be individually determined by the customer, the various programs within the respective segments do not overlap acoustically and thus disrupt the proceedings.
The RMCC stands for flexibility
Flexibility has been one of the most important guiding principles since the conception and start of construction of the RheinMain CongressCenter. The possibility of dividing larger halls into smaller segments not only ensures perfect acoustics, but also allows for completely flexible use of rooms of different sizes.
The North Hall (opens in a new tab), which covers 4,600 m² and can accommodate up to 5,000 people, has a unique feature: it contains its own boxes that can be used completely independently of the actual hall. However, it is also possible to open the dividing glass panel, allowing those inside the box to be part of an entertainment event and stage program in Hall North. Another possible use for the boxes in Hall North is to hold a press conference. This allows press conference participants to take a look at what is happening at the event while still being among themselves and in a quiet environment – the DGIM also made use of this during its congress for internists. The diverse uses of the boxes in Hall North are thus an example of the flexibility that makes the RheinMain CongressCenter so impressive as a venue for trade fairs and congresses.
A pleasant atmosphere for a successful event
Despite the enormous size and spaciousness of the RheinMain CongressCenter's premises (opens in a new tab) and despite all its practical technical functionalities, the RMCC is characterized by one thing in particular: a friendly, bright, and above all pleasant atmosphere. The architecture of the RMCC exudes modernity and friendliness at the same time, making a congress or trade fair there not only a practical affair for customers, but above all a successful event in a positive atmosphere.
Conclusion: The RMCC is impressive in every respect
To summarize once again all the special features and advantages of the RheinMain CongressCenter:
17,700 m² of usable space
Flexibly divisible halls
Optimal acoustics thanks to special partition walls
Flexible use of various facilities
Unique UPS such as the boxes in the North Hall
Pleasant atmosphere
Suitable for both smaller events and large-scale events
