Planning & lead time
We requested the hunting lodge 10 months in advance and booked it 9 months beforehand.
This is how we celebrated
We had actually planned the free wedding ceremony in the rotunda, but as it was important to us that all guests could sit on chairs, we moved to the right wing on the first floor and in hindsight we thought this was a great decision!
We held the champagne reception and congratulations after the ceremony in the rotunda and then served canapés, coffee and cake on the first floor.
The upper floor was not accessible to the guests until then. This allowed us to use it for photos and the guests later had the feeling that they had changed locations, even though we stayed in the same building. Many guests commented on this very positively. From dinner onwards, everything took place on the upper floor. We used two wings for tables and the buffet and one wing for the party with DJ, dance floor and bar.
Our ideas & tips for you
✔ Especially for smaller parties (in relation to the size of the location), splitting the event into an upper and first floor is very worthwhile. If we had had both floors open the whole time, the party would have been too spread out and it would have felt empty. By focusing on one floor at a time, we didn't have that problem and the guests were very happy to move upstairs.
Highlight/favorite moment of the day
The whole day was full of favorite moments. In the end, the wedding ceremony remains the core of the event for us and it was made unforgettable by Iris from VerTraute Worte.
Many of our party (including us as the bride and groom) had never experienced a wedding ceremony with an independent wedding officiant before and we were all thrilled with the love and preparation that went into the ceremony.
Breakdowns, bad luck & mishaps
April does what it wants - snow, rain and sun - we had it all in one day. But the hunting lodge is uniquely suited to this. The gloomier the weather was outside, the more comfortable we felt inside. When the sun came out for dinner and lit up our long dinner table, the pictures were all the better.
What would you particularly recommend to future couples?
The hunting lodge offers plenty of space to make the wedding your own. As there is no furniture, you have a free choice of design. However, you do of course have to take care of this or need the right service providers to help you. We really enjoyed this freedom of design!
Would you have done anything differently in hindsight?
Not really. We had a dream wedding! Our biggest failing was not getting as much of the cake buffet, which everyone raved about afterwards. That should show that we didn't have any real problems :D

Budget
Our budget was intended more as a guideline from the start and was not a hard limit, but we quickly realized that everything felt like it cost twice as much as soon as the label wedding was attached to it. In the end, we always opted for the service providers we had the most confidence in and that was often not the cheapest option, but never the most expensive either. So expensive is not always better, the chemistry has to be right.
