Shooting star market

Shooting star market 2025

The pre-Christmas period in Wiesbaden is inextricably linked with the Sternschnuppenmarkt. Numerous Christmas stalls, a stage program and offers for children await you on Schlossplatz and in front of the Marktkirche until 23 December.

Various Christmas stalls with people in front of them

The pulsating center of the pre-Christmas season is the shooting star market on Schlossplatz: guests from near and far can expect Christmas gift ideas, Christmas decorations, leather goods, jewelry and handicrafts at 104 stalls. Culinary delights and treats are available at more than 20 food stalls. There is also children's punch, mulled wine in various flavors and delicious hot drinks.

Opening hours:

  • Monday to Thursday: 10.30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Friday and Saturday: 10.30 am to 9.30 pm
  • Sunday: 12 to 21 o'clock

Christmas tree

The Christmas tree in front of the town hall is 25 meters high, a "common spruce" - also known as a red spruce - and comes from a garden in Weilmünster. The Christmas tree is once again decorated with golden bows and a total of 30,000 energy-saving LED twinkling lights. This year, the tree bears the name Leon, as in the last three years, named after the currently most frequently chosen newborn name in Wiesbaden - alternating between a boy's and a girl's name.

Stage program and organ music

Visitors can look forward to a wide range of entertainment on the stage in front of the town hall: from 1 December, a door of the Advent calendar will be opened every day at 5.30 pm and there will be a varied entertainment program with international music. From November 30 to December 23, the Marktkirche invites you to enjoy festive Advent organ music every day at 5.45 pm. This is followed by a short Advent service at 6 pm.

Christmas crib

Every year, the so-called "town crib", which represents the stable of Bethlehem, stands directly in front of the Christmas tree.

This year, the State Theater is decorating the mulled wine cup. From November 25, it will be available for three euros at the Tourist Information. The cups were produced in an environmentally friendly way in Europe.

By the way: the three lilies are the charming mascots of the Wiesbaden Sternschnuppenmarkt. Their motif comes from Wiesbaden's coat of arms, which has been characterized by three golden lilies for centuries - a sign of the historical connection to Nassau tradition and at the same time a symbol of dignity, purity and protection.
