Shooting star market 2026
Thanks to the shooting star market, Wiesbaden will once again be transformed into a real Christmas dream from November 24 to December 23, 2026. On the Schlossplatz and in front of the Marktkirche, numerous sales and gastronomy stands will once again invite you to enjoy.
The Shooting Star Market features more than 100 stalls, including craft stalls, numerous food and drink stalls, and the traditional children’s carousel.
The festive and atmospheric lighting of the Sternschnuppenmarkt is provided by approximately 20 illuminated lilies and the four illuminated gates at the market entrances. There are also 20 small lilies in the pedestrian zone and 51 along Wilhelmstraße. Additionally, stars, snowflakes, and string lights in the trees create dazzling effects. Of course, as with all lighting effects during the Christmas season, environmentally friendly LED string lights and LED bulbs are used for the Sternschnuppenmarkt’s lighting.
Christmas Nativity Scene
Every year, the so-called "City Nativity Scene," depicting the stable in Bethlehem, is set up right in front of the Christmas tree.
Hours:
- Monday through Thursday: 10:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
- Friday and Saturday: 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
- Sunday: 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Children's shooting star market
The popular Kindersternschnuppenmarkt opens its doors on Luisenplatz. A colorful program with craft activities, Christmas stories and live music awaits young guests on the Winter Magic Stage. Also on offer are the shooting star express and, of course, the children's carousel. Stroll through the enchanted gnome forest and discover its mystical inhabitants. Twinkling lights and enchanting illuminated figures create a fairytale atmosphere that will make the eyes of young and old alike light up.
Ferris wheel & Hessian Winterstubb
The anticipation of Christmas can also be felt on Mauritiusplatz: In the WinterStubb you will be spoiled with Hessian specialties and from the Ferris wheel you can enjoy the view from a height of 45 meters over the festively decorated city centre.
