Schierstein harbor
The Schiersteiner Hafen is a local recreation area and water sports center for Wiesbaden residents and visitors to the city.
It is proudly known as the "Schiersteiner Riviera", as it is a wonderful place to stroll along the promenade - past yachts, sailing boats and excursion steamers, shaded by trees and surrounded by lush nature. This is usually accompanied by an ice cream from one of the two traditional ice cream stands right on the water. You can walk all the way around the harbor basin via a pedestrian bridge - from here you also have an impressive view of the Rhine and the Schierstein harbor promenade.
Did you already know?
The Dyckerhoff Bridge has spanned the entrance to Schierstein harbor as a lightweight concrete pedestrian bridge since 1967. On the occasion of the company's 100th anniversary in 1964, the Dyckerhoff cement works donated the prestressed concrete structure together with the city of Wiesbaden. The Wiesbaden-based company also supplied 8,000 barrels of cement for the foundations of the Statue of Liberty in New York, as this was the only cement with sufficient water resistance at the time.
Shark charter
If you need a little more action and speed, Hai-Charter is the right place for you: here you can hire everything that's fun on the water - motorboats, SUPs, jet skis, pedal boats and even a party raft for 12 people with a barbecue and sun deck.
Ship Open Air Cinema
Summertime is open-air movie time! And Schierstein even has its own: the SCHIFF open-air cinema is located in a particularly cozy spot on the large lawn at the western end of the harbour basin. From August 21 to 30, the latest movies will be shown on the 100 square meter screen. There will also be some tasty treats and drinks at the stands on the grounds - including classic popcorn and nachos, of course. You can buy tickets online in advance, the big blockbusters are often sold out days before the screening.
Ice cream parlor Rheinblick
The modern and cozy Eiscafé Rheinblick not only serves sumptuous sundaes with more unusual ice cream flavors on request, but also homemade cakes and pies. Special specialties: Homemade tiramisu and homemade pasteis de nata.
Wine tasting stand
The locals gather at Hans-Römer-Platz for a glass of wine and a long chat until late in the evening. And if you're not from "Scheerstaan", you'll be part of the crowd after a single glass of wine anyway. The local wineries - Höhn, Meilinger, Karthäuserhof and Manuel Klepper - mainly serve their Rieslings here, of course. The wine stand is particularly popular due to the cozy atmosphere at the harbour and its central location with excellent bus connections.
Our tip for you
A small weekly market is held every Tuesday from 2 pm to 7 pm on Hans-Römer-Platz at the harbor. First buy some tasty treats for a little picnic and then enjoy them at the wine stall with a glass of wine by the water. A vacation feeling during the week!
