Hessian Sustainability Day
TriWiCon and Wiesbaden Congress & Marketing GmbH took part in the Hessian Sustainability Day, which took place on September 26 this year. With this offer, the company is making a tangible contribution to the direct experience of sustainability.
An important example of the thoughtful use of raw materials is the new RheinMain CongressCenter building, which generates a significant proportion of the energy it requires from a photovoltaic system installed on the roof of the hall. As on the last Hessian Sustainability Day, there was also a guided tour of this. There was also a guided tour of the Kurpark and we also presented the sustainable product range of our Tourist Information.
Guided tour of the RheinMain CongressCenter
Sustainability and functionality are combined in the RheinMain CongressCenter - which is operated by WICM as a municipal company - in such a way that ecological goals and user orientation form a unit. During a guided tour with Ulrike Theis, expert for events, congresses and conventions in Wiesbaden, and WICM Sustainability Manager Robert Frowein, the guests learned many details about sustainability in our congress center in Wiesbaden, which opened in 2018 and has been awarded the platinum award of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB), among others.
Sustainability through regional products
Over the past two years, the Tourist Information in Wiesbaden has consistently switched its product portfolio from souvenirs and gift items to a sustainable range. The focus is on presenting selected manufacturers from the region who produce fairly and sustainably. Katja Wiebking, Head of Tourist Service Wiesbaden, was able to tell exciting stories behind the products on this tour of the Tourist Information. Among other things, the participants learned who makes the hand-colored wooden plaques with Wiesbaden sights and which other manufacturers from the city center sell their unique items in the Tourist Information.
Guided tour through the spa gardens
Wiesbaden's Kurpark is caught between a variety of demands: monument protection, nature conservation, habitat, climate change, leisure activities and event space. In her guided tour, Stefanie Stüber, Head of Spa Park Management, explained how we - together with the various interest groups - are sustainably aligning the spa park within this field of tension.
