On Tuesday, September 23, the ÖKOPROFIT certificate ceremony took place at the Kurhaus Wiesbaden. 50 companies and organizations received the ÖKOPROFIT certification for their commitment to environmental and climate protection - they were participants in the 16th ÖKOPROFIT round 2024/2025! The RheinMain CongressCenter and Kurhaus Wiesbaden also took part.

Many of the companies have already received multiple awards, and some have been part of the program since its introduction 25 years ago. The Ökoprofit award was presented by Lord Mayor Mende, Mayor and Head of the Environment Department Christiane Hinninger and IHK President Jörg Brömer. The eleven newcomers include participants from a wide range of sectors - from healthcare to media, IT and insurance to the construction industry, as well as municipal institutions and the Wiesbaden Chamber of Industry and Commerce itself.

25 years of ÖKOPROFIT Wiesbaden

To date, 160 companies and organizations in Wiesbaden have successfully participated in ÖKOPROFIT and received over 500 certifications. An extrapolation of all the savings made by ÖKOPROFIT Wiesbaden over the last 25 years shows a remarkable success: almost 500,000 tons of CO₂, 800 million kilowatt hours of energy, 505 million liters of water and over 9,000 tons of raw materials and waste have been avoided. The participating companies have saved a total of 80 million euros since the start of the project in 2000.

The results of the eleven newcomer and 39 club businesses in the 25th anniversary round are also impressive. 218 evaluated measures not only result in cost savings of almost 900,000 euros per year, but also a reduction of five million kilowatt hours of total energy, 3,000 tons of CO2 emissions, as well as almost 300,000 sheets of paper and 150 tons of raw materials and waste. In addition to large-scale measures, small solutions also have valuable effects: Whether energy efficiency measures, the increased expansion of renewable energies, the promotion of environmentally friendly mobility by converting the vehicle fleet to electromobility, the recycling or reuse of materials, the introduction of sustainable procurement or the expansion of activities in the area of biodiversity. These are just a few examples of the growing range of topics and commitment of companies.
