New student sponsorship for WICM GmbH together with the IHK Wiesbaden
Wiesbaden Congress & Marketing GmbH (WICM) and the Wiesbaden Chamber of Industry and Commerce are taking on a student sponsorship for the new 2025/2026 school year as part of the WiesPaten social program, which is part of the municipal engagement strategy of the Office for Social Work "Wiesbaden Engagiert!".
"Education is the key to participation and future prospects. It's great to see how companies like WICM and corporations like the Wiesbaden Chamber of Industry and Commerce take responsibility and offer young people concrete support," says Mayor and Head of Economic Affairs Christiane Hinninger.
"The WiesPaten project is a win-win situation for everyone involved: for the pupils, for the committed students and for us as a sponsoring company ourselves, we benefit from the change of perspective and learn first-hand what currently motivates young people," adds Simon Rottloff, authorized signatory of WICM and responsible for sustainability.
In April of this year, the WiesPaten celebrated their 15th birthday at the IHK Wiesbaden. Sabine Meder, Managing Director of IHK Wiesbaden, explains the commitment as follows: "Supporting young people is in the DNA of the IHK. In our day-to-day business, we do this through career guidance and training. Our involvement in WiesPaten is another important building block for us: it allows us to create even more equal opportunities and meet young people where they are on their individual path. By taking part, we also want to make it clear that the business community is aware of its responsibility towards society and the promotion of young talent and is more than happy to fulfill it."
What happens at WiesPaten?
As part of the sponsorship, regular meetings take place throughout the year between pupils, the student teachers who accompany the project and employees of the two sponsoring institutions. This results in a lively mixture of knowledge transfer, school support and social activities. In the past school year, the participating pupils visited the RheinMain CongressCenter and the Kurhaus Wiesbaden as part of "Wiesbaden on Ice", received support for their final presentations and took part in the WiesPaten summer party.
About WiesPaten
With the help of student teachers and the active involvement of Wiesbaden-based companies, young people receive targeted support - through intensive small group lessons and personal encounters with their mentors. In addition to academic support, WiesPaten also focuses on shared experiences. This creates relationships based on trust and appreciation.
