Wine Stand of the Twin Town Istanbul-Fatih
This year, Wiesbaden is celebrating a premiere at the partnership booth at the Rheingau Wine Week. For the first time Wiesbaden's youngest twin town Fatih will present itself with Turkish wines.
On offer are wines from the Turkish vineyard Suvla. Founded in 2003, it is located near Suvla Bay, in the northern Aegean coast of the Gallipoli peninsula. Surrounded by pines, with a smell of resin and lavender and the salty air, this region now belongs to one of the most important wine growing areas of Turkey. The clayey soil and the northwest winds create a microclimate that is ideal for the ripening of high quality grapes.
The 60 hectares of organic vineyards that make up the Suvla Winery feature a variety of grape varieties. With white varieties such as Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Roussanne, Marsanne excellent cuvées are produced. For the red wines are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Cabernet Franc,
Grenache Noir, Petit Verdot and Pinot Noir used. The vineyard also works with indigenous grape varieties such as Kınalı Yapıncak and Karasakız.
The young wine brand Suvla, which has already participated in national and international competitions, has been awarded several times with a first place. In addition, the winery Suvla expects the certification - GAP "Good Agriculture Practice", to the certification "Bio", which will be awarded in the not too distant future. Suvla wines are suitable for all tastes thanks to their variety.
