Cool places in Wiesbaden
Whether in the forest, swimming pool, park or museum - you can cool off in these places on hot days.
- Right in the heart of the city, you can cool off at the Klima-Kiste (opens in a new tab) on Luisenplatz. There are misting systems (opens in a new tab) at the Dern’schen Gelände and Kochbrunnenplatz—where you’ll also find the Playfountain (opens in a new tab) water playground.
- The Kurpark has plenty of shady spots waiting for you. Extra tip for cooling off: Dangle your legs in the water while you’re rowing or pedaling a rowboat!
- Wiesbaden’s bodies of water are ideal for water sports like stand-up paddleboarding (opens in a new tab). You’ll pick up the basics in no time with a course! The best spots for this are Schiersteiner Hafen or the Rettbergsaue.
- In the forest around the Neroberg, the summer heat is quickly forgotten: tall beech trees, narrow forest trails, and the scent of damp moss provide a refreshing escape even on hot days. A lovely walk leads to the Leichtweiß Cave (opens in a new tab), which is said to have once served as a hideout for the famous bandit Heinrich Anton Leichtweiß.
- The Goldsteintal valley also promises relief from the heat on hot summer days, thanks not only to the forest but also to the Goldstein spring, whose drinking water quality many Wiesbaden residents swear by and even bottle for use at home. A great place to stop: the Hubertushütte (opens in a new tab) with its idyllic terrace surrounded by greenery.
- In the Walkmühltal valley in northeastern Wiesbaden, it stays pleasantly cool even on hot summer days: between the stream, old trees, and shady paths, everyone can find a nice spot. To the west of the Nerotal valley lies the Rabengrund, where the mixed forest provides plenty of shade. You can cool off at the Rettert Fountain. Park your car at the Rabengrund parking lot (opens in a new tab) and off you go!
- Of course, Wiesbaden’s swimming pools (opens in a new tab) also offer plenty of refreshment, such as the Kallebad, Kleinfeldchen, the Mainzer Straße Leisure Pool, and, of course, the Opelbad.
- In the mood for some cool indoor spaces? You’ll find them at the Caligari FilmBühne (opens in a new tab), the Museum Wiesbaden, (opens in a new tab) and the Museum Reinhard Ernst (opens in a new tab) ;-)
- The Environmental Agency has created a map of cool spots (opens in a new tab) in Wiesbaden!
