8 reasons why a short trip to Wiesbaden is a great idea.

Although Wiesbaden, with its 300,000 inhabitants, is not the largest city in Hesse - that place is occupied by Frankfurt with around 750,000 inhabitants - it is the state capital of Hesse. Incidentally, Mainz, the capital of Rhineland-Palatinate, is located directly opposite the Rhine.


  • Wiesbaden is the perfect size for exploring the city on foot.
  • Overtourism? We don't know it. Here you can make your own discoveries in a completely relaxed way - without large crowds of tourists!
  • Wiesbaden is an Eldorado for architecture and photography fans: the city experienced a real building boom during the Wilhelminian era and as Wiesbaden was hardly destroyed in the Second World War, there are still many beautiful buildings and villas from the historicism period.
  • Wiesbaden is super green. The highlight is the Kurpark with its old trees. Maybe that's why the exotic collared and Alexander parakeets that you see all over the city feel so at home here.
  • As the "city of springs", Wiesbaden has a long tradition as a spa town. There are 26 hot springs in total, which also supply the thermal baths. You can relax in a particularly beautiful atmosphere in the Badhaus (opens in a new tab) and the Kaiser-Friedrich-Therme (opens in a new tab).
  • Wiesbaden is a city for connoisseurs: cafés, chocolateries, wine bars and restaurants - you'll be spoiled for choice here!
  • Those interested in culture can draw on the full range of attractions - there are many small gems as well as large houses.
  • Wiesbaden is the perfect base for exploring the beautiful Rheingau region with its castles, wineries, monasteries and restaurants. You can be there in just half an hour!
