I want everything. Hildegard Knef

In the form of a cinematic autobiography, the current documentary "I want it all" paints the picture of a highly talented, ambitious, laconic and sharp-witted woman who showed the world how to survive fame and defeat. She was a diva, opinionated, controversial, the mirror and antithesis of her time. As an actress, singer and author, she celebrated international successes, experienced crushing defeats and was creatively active for more than five decades. She became part of the German public eye at the age of 20 and never left it again. Her favorite topic, being successful, failing, reinventing herself again and again and - against all odds - getting up again and again, makes her an expert on survival.

Paula - My life should be a celebration

Woman with brush

Introduction: Dr. Roman Zieglgänsberger, Curator of Classical Modernism at the Museum Wiesbaden

The collection of Classical Modernism at the Museum Wiesbaden is of international importance. Works by the famous Russian expressionist Alexej von Jawlensky form an important focus. The collections of other important expressionists have also been acquired, including works by Paula Modersohn-Becker.

In PAULA, director Christian Schwochow tells the fascinating story of a highly talented artist and radically modern woman at the beginning of the 20th century. Worpswede, 1900: Paula Becker and Otto Modersohn feel a special connection from their very first meeting. Their shared passion for painting turned into great love. When they marry, they lead a marriage far removed from the usual patterns of their time. A relationship in rich colors, rich in contours and with traces of fights. Just like the paintings of the young woman who courageously reaches for life and who will go down in art history as Paula Modersohn-Becker. Against all odds, she lives her vision of artistic self-realization and her romantic idea of marriage and love.
