Love Me Tender
Late summer, somewhere in Paris. Former lawyer Clémence is writing her debut novel and blossoming in her newfound desire for women. At the same time, she maintains a friendly relationship with her estranged husband Laurent, with whom she shares custody of their eight-year-old son Paul. But when Laurent learns of her affairs, everything falls apart. He no longer allows Clémence to see her son and demands sole custody.
Based on the novel of the same name by Constance Debré, director Anna Cazenave Cambet's second feature film depicts a woman's struggle between her desire for freedom and the expectations placed on her as a mother and wife.
Sorda
Ángela is deaf, Héctor is hearing, a young couple, happy and in love, all the more so as they are expecting their first child. They are going to call her Ona, a girl. But the closer the day of the birth gets, the more anxious Ángela becomes. How is she supposed to look after Ona in a world that is not made for her? Will Ona hear like Héctor or be like her? The small, protected world they have created for themselves begins to falter.
We will be showing SORDA on April 3 in the German version and on April 9 in the original version with extended German subtitles. Sounds and music in the film will be indicated by corresponding notes in the subtitles.
A simple accident
When car mechanic Vahid happens to encounter the man who allegedly tortured him in prison, he kidnaps him to exact revenge. But the only clue to Eghbal's identity is the unmistakable squeaking of his prosthetic leg. In search of certainty, Vahid turns to a scattered circle of other victims who have since been released. But the deeper they delve into their past and the more their different worldviews clash, the greater their doubts become: Is this really the torturer? And what does revenge even mean?
