Tafiti – Off Through the Desert
Germany 2024, 80 min., Rating: All Ages, Recommended for ages 5 and up
Tafiti, a lively little meerkat, lives in the vast, sun-drenched savanna of Africa. His grandfather Opapa warns him time and again: The world out there is full of dangers—and meerkats are better off sticking to their own kind. But Tafiti has a mind of his own. When he meets Pinsel, a cheerful and somewhat clumsy brush-eared pig, everything changes. When Opapa is bitten by a poisonous snake, Tafiti embarks on the greatest adventure of his life: Only a rare blue flower growing beyond the desert can save him. Although Tafiti promises to stay away from other animals in the future, Pinsel won’t leave him alone. Together, the two set off on a journey through scorching deserts, past wild animals and major challenges.
Based on the successful children’s book series, Tafiti comes to the big screen—a heartwarming desert adventure about courage, solidarity, and the magic of true friendship—told with plenty of humor and heart.
TAFITI – OFF THROUGH THE DESERT won the Cinekindl Audience Award at the 2025 Munich Film Festival.
Binti – I Exist!
B 2019, 90 min., FSK: ages 6 and up, recommended for ages 8 and up
Twelve-year-old Binti is a natural-born vlogger. With boundless enthusiasm and an overflowing imagination, she whips up video clips on the spot with her smartphone at nearly every opportunity and already has 1,000 followers online. Just a normal European girl who wants to be famous? It’s not that simple, because Binti and her father are of Congolese origin and have been living illegally in Belgium for many years, constantly fearing deportation. Binti’s social media channel serves as proof that she “exists,” even though she has no papers.
The film won the 2020 ECFA Award for Best European Children’s Film.
The Treasure Hunt in Blaumeisental
F/B 2025, 77 min., FSK: 0+, recommended for ages 7 and up
Finally, summer vacation! Nine-year-old Lucie heads out to the countryside on her own—to visit her mother, Caro, who is leading an exciting archaeological dig in her hometown. But amid the hills, forests, and the ruins of a real castle, Lucie discovers more than just fresh country air: an old family secret awaits her! Together with her new friend Yann, the cheeky goose Zerbinette, and two chatty blue tits, she plunges headfirst into an exciting adventure. From the dark castle cellar to an abandoned trailer at the edge of the forest, her treasure hunt is full of mysteries and surprises.
THE TREASURE HUNT IN THE BLUE TIT VALLEY won several awards in 2025, including the Audience Award at LUCAS—International Festival for Young Film Fans, Frankfurt am Main.
The Summer When I Found My Story
H/NL 2024, 92 min., Rating: Ages 6 and up, recommended for ages 10 and up
The lively Nina grows up in a creative family—her father works as a filmmaker, while her brother loves to perform magic tricks. She herself dreams of becoming a writer. With the help of her quirky neighbor, she ventures into writing her first story and becomes the main character herself in the process. She writes about life with her family, her daily routine at school and on the sports field, and her first love. As time goes on, she delves deeper and deeper into the life of her mother, who died young. Through the solidarity within her family—and not least through her writing—she gradually finds a way to come to terms with her grief, and in the process helps her father find new happiness.
This family film has taken audiences by storm and is one of the most successful films for young audiences in Hungarian history. Beyond its box-office success, the film has also received international recognition, winning, among other accolades, the Children’s Best Film Award at the prestigious 2024 Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival.
Based on the children’s book *How, Quite by Chance, My Life Became a Book* by Annet Huizing.
