Christiane Steitz - Atelier 11

Christiane Steitz

Christiane Steitz, born in Saarbrücken in 1948, worked as an art teacher in Frankfurt and Wiesbaden from 1975 to 2011. In Wiesbaden, she taught at the Martin Niemöller School until 1998, and then served as assistant principal at the IGS Kastellstraße until 2011. Since her retirement, she has focused on her own artistic work.

Her preferred medium is paper cutting, which she has since expanded to include digital cutting techniques. Another focus of her work is temporary outdoor projects. The themes of Christiane Steitz’s work are shaped by her interest in people, nature, and social issues. She focuses her attention on fragile balances, precious or ambivalent moments, and vulnerabilities. She most enjoys engaging in social contexts characterized by mutual inspiration and fruitful discourse.
