Christine Straszewski, born in Wiesbaden in 1959, lives in Mainz and has been working at Atelier 2/FANCY STUDIO in the Kunsthaus Wiesbaden since 2025. After completing her design studies (1979–1983) with a diploma from RheinMain University of Applied Sciences, she has been working as a freelance painter and conceptual artist since 1999. In 1982, she received the Polaroid Award from RheinMain University of Applied Sciences. In her installations, Christine Straszewski explores aspects of painting and sculpture. She examines artistic strategies and systems of reference. Drawing on both archaic and contemporary perspectives, she plays with the sublime, the profane, and the absurd, inviting viewers to engage in polarization.
